If you’ve been wondering why you recognise True Love or True Lies? contestant Shereece, we might have just discovered that she’s actually been on TV before.

Some very eagle-eyed fans of the show think they’ve tracked down her Instagram page – and it looks as though the current MTV reality star first hit our screens back in 2016, as one third of The X Factor girl group Alliance.

The trio auditioned for the ITV talent show for its 13th series. It seems that they made it through to the Six Chair Challenge and to Judges’ Houses (with mentor Louis Walsh) but didn’t get through to the live shows.

There’s a possibility you’ll see us on Xfactor this weekend! Tune in at 8pm Sat night to find out! ❌ #xfactor2016

So that’s why she seemed so familiar!

Having found her social account, viewers have also pointed out that her True Love or True Lies? boyfriend, Cameron, doesn’t seem to feature in her Instagram photos (apart from the most recent promos of the show.)

Does this add to the theory that they might be faking?

We think this could just be a tactic so as not to give too much away. Sneaky!

Perhaps they deleted all traces of one another from social media to add to the mystery around the show?

Digital Spy has reached out to MTV for comment.

In other news, True Love or True Lies? has the nation hooked already. It has been praised for its celebration of diversity, and fans have been tuning in every night to try to discover who is real and who is fake.

Episode three saw Dee and Jade getting the boot, and it seems that they hadn’t done much to convince viewers at home with 88% believing they weren’t a real couple.

True Love or True Lies? continues tonight on MTV at 9pm.
