EastEnders unleashes Phil Mitchell’s Beast Mode on the gang, and fans are loving it

EastEnders‘ gang war escalated out of control in Friday’s (August 10) episode, but at least fans’ hopes of Phil Mitchell finally getting involved came to pass. And then some!

All week, Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) has been trying to hide from Phil (Steve McFadden) and Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) that young Dennis (Bleu Landau) had got involved in a gang, culminating in the hoods defacing the Arches in Thursday’s episode when he refused to return their stolen phones and drugs.

In Friday’s instalment, Keanu decided to tell Phil and Sharon the truth about the trouble Dennis had got himself into after being warned about about the consequences from his brother Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) — whose best friend was killed by a gang.

“I ain’t losing no-one else this year,” Keegan told his brother.

Unfortunately, Keanu and Dennis were intercepted by the gang before he could get to Phil and viciously attacked, before Phil intervened and ran off the thugs all by himself. Fans were excited to see Phil back in Beast Mode:

After Phil whooped an entire gang by himself, Keanu confessed the truth about Dennis to both him and Sharon. Keanu took a verbal smackdown from Phil too, leaving fans with an uneasy feeling because it has been rumoured that Sharon and Keanu will begin a torrid affair soon.

Stuart Highway’s (Ricky Champ) mind games continued as the Carters returned from their getaway to Southend, especially once Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) learned the truth about Stuart breaking into the Vic.

The situation grew even more bizarre when the Carters got word that Stuart had decided to drop the charges against Tina, but it wasn’t any solace for Tina herself. She remained convinced he was plotting another move.

And she was right! The episode later flashed to Stuart’s creepy flat where he was shown sticking photos of the Carters to a bulletin board, including pictures taken in secret that very day.

The rocky romance for Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) once again hit the skids when, in a fit of anger, Rainie lied and claimed that she’d been faking her feelings for him.

A furious Max later spotted Rainie trying to smooth things over with a customer she’d undercharged and angrily confronted them both — is jealousy getting the better of Max?

Elsewhere in the episode, Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) made the surprising decision to accept Billy’s (Perry Fenwick) offer to move in with him and Jay (Jamie Borthwick).

EastEnders continues on Monday (August 13) at 8pm on BBC One.
