There’s nothing more satisfying than tuning into a finale and seeing your season favourite crowned the winner.
Whether it’s Love Island or The X Factor, we seem to be a nation obsessed with reality gameshows. We’ve trawled through the voting statistics to find the biggest winners from over the years, and some of them might surprise you…
7. Courtney Act, Celebrity Big Brother: Year of the Woman 2018
If it had been anyone else, we might have been a bit miffed to have a man crowned the winner of the Year of the Woman. Courtney/Shane even said it was “slightly ironic”.
But, with the way she tackled conversations around gender and sexuality whilst in the house, Courtney really was the perfect choice.
It seems the public thought so too, as she swept the victory with an applaudable 49.43% of the vote. When you consider that Courtney was one of five finalists, the number becomes all the more of a landslide.
6. Sam Bailey, The X Factor 2013
Not only did Sam scoop an impressive 53.4% of the three-way final vote, but she managed to maintain her status at the top of the voting pile from Week 7 of live shows until her victory.
Now that’s how you do it.
5. Louisa Johnson, The X Factor 2015
Winning the show with 53.9% of the vote under the guidance of first-time mentor Rita Ora, Louisa took the spotlight – and the recording deal – from Reggie ‘n’ Bollie (38.9%) and Che Chesterman (7.2%).
And with over two million votes being cast, that 50%+ counts for a whole lot.
4. Kian Egan, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2013
Kian was up against fashion designer David Emanuel in the final, and the votes made it more than clear who the favourite was.
The former Westlife singer bagged a boastful 67.44% of the vote, with David amassing a more modest 32.56%.
The stats also revealed that Kian dominated many of the public votes throughout the series, with his popularity increasing in the final few stages.
3. Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2017
The Made in Chelsea star topped every single one of the public’s votes to save their favourite campmate, so she was always going to make it all the way.
Having chewed on a Huntsman spider and bull’s penis (ick), Toff was a deserved winner. The public clearly thought so too, with 71.4% of the final vote going to her.
It wasn’t even close; in the penultimate vote Jamie Lomas held 17.44%, which was only narrowly pipped by Iain Lee’s 17.35%.
2. Gino D’Acampo, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2009
Gino was a hit with viewers from the moment he entered the Australian jungle, and he came out on top in the three-way final with an impressive 72.98% of the vote.
To put this into perspective, Kim Woodburn held 14.77% of the vote, while snooker star Jimmy White totalled 12.24% in third place.
1. Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer, Love Island 2018
Fan-favourites from the very beginning of the series, the only people that seemed to be shocked by Dani and Jack’s win were Dani and Jack themselves.
With the couple scoring 79.66% of the public vote, it’s fair to say that they absolutely smashed it.
The percentages between the remaining three couples were very close; Laura Anderson and Paul Knops came in second with 8.43% of the vote, Kazimir Crossley and Josh Denzel held 6.05% of the vote and Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson scored 5.86% – that’s a difference of a mere 0.19%.
