Former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes that Rishabh Pant will win the Orange Cap (leading run-scorer) and Kuldeep Yadav will win the Purple Cap (leading wicket-taker) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
“#NoBrainer … @RishabPant777 leading scorer … @imkuldeep18 leading Wicket taker … @RCBTweets to win it !!!!!,” he tweeted when asked to predict the various winners of the tournament.
While predicting the winner of this year’s tournament, he picked Royal Challengers Bangalore despite the fact that the Virat Kohli-led side has never won the competition.
Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 in Chennai on Saturday.
When it comes to RCB, they have been somewhat of an under-achiever in the tournament with not a single title under their belt despite having big names for most of the seasons.
Ahead of this season, they added more quality to their side in the form of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and India batsman Shivam Dube.
Along with the new recruits, RCB will also be welcoming its celebrated duo – Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers – who will surely be aiming to add the IPL title to their already illustrious careers.

“Obviously, you want to win the IPL. I am doing what I am supposed to do. I don’t care whether I am going to be judged on this (not winning IPL) or not. There is no real, sort of, parameters you set. I try to perform wherever I can. I try to win all the possible titles, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen.
“We have to be practical about why we haven’t won one. That boils down to bad decision making in pressure situations. If I think like people from outside, I can’t even sustain five games. I would be sitting at home,” Kohli said.
