CII-TN Council gets a new chairman

Dr. S. Chandrakumar, founder and executive chairman, Sri Kauvery Medical Care India Ltd, Trichy has been elected chairman of the CII Tamil Nadu State Council for 2021-22.

Satyakam Arya, managing director & CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., has been elected vice-chairman, a press release said.

New office bearers for CII-Pondy

Vijay Ganesh K. has been elected as the Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry, Puducherry State Council, for the year 2021-22. S. Sureender has been elected as the Vice-Chairman of CII, Puducherry, State Council.

While Mr. Vijay is the Managing Director of Poclain Hydraulics Private Limited, Mr. Sureender is the Director of The Flavors India Private Limited, CII, said in a release.

Man found murdered

R. Batcha, 47, of Mahaboobpalayam was found murdered near Ansari Nagar here in the small hours of Thursday.

Police said that the body, with stab and cut injuries, was noticed at around 3.30 a.m. under S.S. Colony police station limits. The police have picked up four suspects for questioning.

TVS Srichakra back to pre-Covid levels

TVS Srichakra Ltd., one of the flagship companies of the $8.5 billion TVS Group, has returned to its pre-Covid levels of production of more than three million tyres and tubes per month, said P. Madhavan, EVP – Sales & Marketing.

41 cases in delta

The central districts on Friday reported 41 cases of COVID-19. No death was recorded in the region, according to ae bulletin released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

In Thanjavur, 14 patients tested positive, while Tiruchi reported 11. Five tested positive in Pudukottai, and four each in Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts. Ariyalur, Karur and Perambalur districts reported one each.

AIADMK appoints S.D. Kumar as secretary of Karnataka unit

The AIADMK on Friday appointed S.D. Kumar as secretary of the Karnataka State unit of the party.

Earlier, he was the joint secretary of the unit.

In early February, his predecessor, M.P. Yuvaraj, was expelled from the party for having taken part in “anti-party activities”.

An election for all

The Election Commission of India has launched a “Making elections accessible” campaign for facilitating elections for all, including the differently abled. It has also launched a logo for the campaign. It has made available postal ballots for those above the age of 80, the differently abled and those with COVID-19 symptoms.

Tamil Nadu Assembly polls | 10 parties extend support to AIADMK

Leaders of 10 smaller political parties called on AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the party head office in Chennai on Sunday morning to extend their support to the AIADMK in the upcoming Assembly elections.

They include Puthiya Needhi Katchi and Tamil Nadu Muslim League, an AIADMK press release said.

Over ₹ 7 lakh seized

Static surveillance and flying squad teams on Monday seized over ₹ 7.89 lakh in the district. According to sources, teams in Coimbatore North seized ₹ 5.56 lakh and another team in Kinathukadavu seized ₹ 83,100. The day also saw a Singanallur team seize 58 liquor bottles.

Thus far, the officials had seized ₹ 14.45 lakh. The district also saw registration of 14 poll violation cases.

Randomisation of EVMs held

The first randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines and VVPAT equipment was held in the presence of representatives of all recognised political parties at the Collectorate on Monday.

According to an official press note, around 1,603 EVMs and 1,724 VVPAT machines would be operational in Assembly constituencies in the district.

Indian Bank to raise up to ₹4,000 cr. via QIP

Indian Bank has decided to raise equity capital up to ₹4,000 crore through Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). In a filing, the bank said the Committee of Directors had accorded approval for raising up to ₹4,000 crore (including premium) through QIP in one or more tranches.

Training for expenditure observers

District Election Officer Purva Garg on Tuesday convened a training session for assistant expenditure observers attached to Returning Officers.

A press note said the training was in connection with the various means of monitoring election expenditure for the April 6 Assembly election.

In this regard, the instructions of the Election Commission of India were explained to the observers.
