Man posing as traffic SI arrested

Personnel from the Koyambedu police station on Monday arrested Rajesh, 29, for allegedly robbing Madhavan, 35, a lorry driver, posing as a traffic sub-inspector on Sunday.

Passersby caught him and handed him over to the authorities.

Body found with stab injuries

A body was found near Prakash Nagar in the Kukatpally Police Station limits on Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old M Krishna, reported to be a flower vendor. The victim had stab wounds on his body.

The body was identified by locals who immediately informed the police. A murder case has been booked. Police is likely to analyse CCTV footage and all angles are being probed.

DMK constitutes NRI welfare wing

The DMK on Friday announced its decision to constitute an NRI (non-resident Indian) welfare wing of the party.

In a statement, party general secretary Duraimurugan said Mannargudi MLA T.R.B. Raaja had been appointed the secretary of the wing. Dharmapuri MP Senthilkumar and party minority wing deputy secretary M.M. Abduallah would function as deputy secretaries.

Govt. to procure 18 advanced ventilators

The Delhi Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, decided to procure 18 advanced ventilators for the ICUs of the Neurosurgery Department at GB Pant Hospital. According to the government, the Cabinet also approved the setting up of a Konkani Academy to facilitate the growth and promotion of the Konkani language and culture here.

AIADMK general council meeting to begin at 11 a.m.

The general council of the AIADMK, which was scheduled to begin at a marriage hall in Vanagaram, near here, at 8.50 a.m. on Saturday, is expected to commence its deliberations at 11 a.m.

Party sources said the inability of a large number of members to reach the venue on time was the reason that led to the postponement.
