Sir Rod Stewart, 74, has admitted he was warned about marrying model Rachel Hunter, who he met in a Los Angeles nightclub when she was just 21-years-old. The rock singer opened up about his second wife in an interview with Johnnie Walker on BBC Radio 2.
Rod got onto the subject after gushing about how “happy” he is with wife Penny Lancaster, 48, and their sons Alastair and Aiden.
He told Johnnie: “These are the happiest days of my life, I must admit. Two young boys, both Celtic fans, both football fans.”
The host then added in reference to his previous relationships: “And a very happy marriage, it took you a while to get there.”
The musician agreed: “Yeah it did. I won’t say it’s trial and error, that’s a bit impolite, but she’s the love of my life.”

Rod went on to admit his journey to finding love with Penny wasn’t smooth, as he revealed his sister had some concerns about his other wives.
He recalled how Mary was worried he was too young to commit to marriage with his first wife Alana, explaining: “When I was getting married to Alana, my sister thought, ‘Oh I don’t think you should Roddy’.”
He then admitted his sister had reservations about his second wife, adding: “And when I got married to Rachel she said, ‘She’s a bit on the young side, isn’t she?’ And of course she was right.”
However, although the musician accepted the mistakes he has made in his love life, he revealed he was “totally unprepared” when Rachel decided to leave him as Johnny pointed out his reputation of “breaking hearts”.
Rod divulged: “I was totally and utterly unprepared for it.
“I didn’t have the tools to know what to do it took me six or seven months to get over it because it had never happened before.
“So I had no experience with what to do and how to cope with it.”
Elsewhere, Rod’s other half Penny shared a clip of him backstage following his first show at London’s O2 Arena.
