A section of the intersection of Rajiv Gandhi Salai and Sardar Patel Road is poorly lit
The traffic signal near the intersection of Rajiv Gandhi Salai and Sardar Patel Road at Madhya Kailash is defunct for many months now. The intersection is quite busy as it witnesses an almost-continuous movement of vehicles, including heavy vehicles. Moreover, the intersection is wide and therefore motorists drive at a fast clip even while taking a left turn to access Sardar Patel Road.
Above all, the intersection is poorly-lit. Although there are posts, the lamps do not function. Pedestrians are blinded by vehicles’ headlights put on high beam.
“Despite pedestrians signalling motorists to slow down, many do not pay any heed to their request,” says A. Anushya, a resident of Gandhi Nagar.
Greater Chennai Traffic Police official says, “The traffic signal will be repaired at the earliest.”
