New bus stand parking lot renovated

Entry and exit logs will be made through a smart card

The parking lot near the new bus stand has been renovated to enable smart card entry and exit.

The parking lot, which was earlier given out on annual lease, was taken over by the Corporation recently. The parking lot would charge ₹5 for two-wheelers, and ₹3 for bicycles per 12 hours. The monthly rate for two-wheelers has been pegged at ₹300, while bicycles would be charged ₹180 each. The entry and exit logs would be made through a smart card, and the cabin is now air-conditioned.

Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C. Raju inaugurated the facility, in the presence of Collector Sandeep Nanduri and Corporation Commissioner V. P. Jeyaseelan.

Later, he also inaugurated two RO plants set up at a cost of ₹1.5 lakh near Rajaji Park and Cruz Fernandes statue. These would serve hot, normal and cold water free of cost. A tank with a capacity of 2,000 litres is attached to the units, and would be able to serve 5,000 people a day.

He said that 20 RO units would be set up within the Corporation limits.

Executive Engineer Ruban Suresh Ponniah, Assistant Commissioner Arumugam, Assistant Executive Engineer Saravanan and other officials were present.
