Narayanasamy says Rangasamy is only interested in CM’s post

Slams AINRC for its ‘unholy alliance’ with AIADMK, BJP

Hitting out at the All India N.R. Congress for its “unholy” alliance with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Lok Sabha election, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said chief of the principal Opposition party, N. Rangasamy, was only interested in occupying the Chief Minister’s post.

Addressing a gathering of Youth Congress workers at a function at Kadirgamam on Sunday, Mr. Narayanasamy said the former Chief Minister was trying to come to power through the backdoor.

He was not interested in the welfare of the people but only in grabbing power.

‘Not backing Statehood’

Questioning the stand of Mr. Rangasamy in getting Statehood for the Union Territory, the Chief Minister said the AINRC had stayed away from the protest organised by an all-party delegation in New Delhi on the issue.

The AINRC stayed away from the Assembly proceedings to adopt a resolution demanding Statehood and also skipped the all-party meeting convened by the government on the issue, the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Narayanasamy said the popularity of the former Chief Minister was on the “decline.”

“The Congress will capture Kadirgamam, Thattanchavadi and Indira Nagar constituencies from AINRC in the next Assembly elections,” he said.

He exuded confidence in the Congress candidate wining the Puducherry Lok Sabha seat.
