Miscreants damage foot bridge

Culprits were also involved in illegal sand extraction

A group of miscreants, reportedly involved in illegal sand mining, have removed several wooden planks of the foot bridge across Nethravati River that connects Pavoor near Adyar with Uliya island.

The incident was reported in the early hours of Saturday.

Some residents of Uliya said they came to the bridge early on Saturday morning hearing a sound.

Vehicles damaged

They saw a few persons running away after removing several wooden planks of the newly laid bridge.

The miscreants have also damaged an autorickshaw and five two-wheelers of the residents. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya said the complaint of the Uliya residents has been registered with the Mangaluru Rural Police.

Search was on to find the miscreants.

District in-charge Minister U.T. Khader visited the spot and spoke to residents of Uliya island.
