Karnataka recorded an overall pass percentage of 61.73% in the second Pre-University (PU) examinations. This is a compared to last year’s 59.56 percent.
The results were announced on Monday by S.R. Umashankar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Primary and Secondary Education and C. Shikha, Director of Pre-University Board.
The results of the 2019 examinations held in March have increased compared to last year’s 59.56 percent. A total of 6.71 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
Like every year, girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 68.24% against 55.29%. The pass percentage of rural colleges is more than that of urban colleges (62.88% against 61.38% respectively).
The highest pass percentage is in the science stream where 66.58% of the students have cleared the examination. This is followed by commerce where 66.39% of them have passed. The arts pass percentage is 50.53%.
