Union Minister of Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo courted controversy after he threatened to break a man’s leg at a programme for differently abled people in Asansol in the Paschim Bardhaman district. Mr. Supriyo, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Asansol, took umbrage when the man kept moving during his speech. The incident took place on Tuesday.
“Do you have any problem? I can break one of your legs and give you a crutch. Now, go stand there,” Mr. Supriyo was seen telling the man in a video.
The Minister was attending the programme at Nazrul Manch in Asansol. The video clip uploaded by a news agency went viral and was viewed by tens of thousands of people.
The Minister also told his security guards, “If this guy moves from his place again, break his leg and give him a stick. Now, give a round of applause for him.”
