Yadgir district administration ready for civic elections

Yadgir district administration has organised a meeting of Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, Sector Officers and Nodal Officers ahead of the urban local body election and is making all arrangements for a smooth and fair elections.

Addressing a training meeting here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner M. Kurma Rao said that officials who will be deployed on election duty should take all precautions to ensure fair elections.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Prakash Rajput said that all preparations have been made for the elections.

Assistant Commissioner of Yadgir Sub Division and District Nodal Officer B.S. Manjunath Swamy said that notification for the election will be published on August 10. Thereafter, nomination paperss will be accepted from August 10 to 17. Nomination papers accepted will be scrutinised on August 18. The last date for withdrawal is August 20 and elections will be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on August 29. Re-elections, if required, will be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on August 31, he said.

The City Municipal Councils of Yadgir and Surpur with 31 wards each and the Town Municipal Council of Gurmitkal with 23 wards are facing elections.
