A man brutally killed his wife by tying her up to a tree, dousing her in kerosene and then setting her ablaze at Thurpu thanda on the outskirts of Enugallu village of Parvathagiri mandal in Warangal Rural district on Saturday night.
According to the police, the deceased, Banoth Rajitha, confronted her husband Balu after she caught him red-handed with another woman on Saturday night. Both had a quarrel and in a fit of rage, Balu slammed Rajitha to a tree behind their house.
He then tied her hands and legs to the tree and set her on fire. The locals who heard the screams of Rajitha rescued her and called for ambulance. She was taken to the MGM Hospital in Warangal with 50% burns where she succumbed to her injuries in the wee hours of sunday. Balu, who is an auto driver, is absconding, according to the police.
