A car ploughed into a tea shop located on a roadside in Arakkonam killing a 40-year-old woman and badly injuring four more persons. Police said Rani, 40, was waiting along with a few other workers near a tea shop in Gandhi Nagar. The driver of the car lost control as he was talking over the mobile phone.
A businessman and his family members were travelling in the car to attend the funeral of his relative in Arakkonam. They escaped without any injury.
Rani died on the spot and four others who were injured were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.
