Three policemen were placed under suspension for letting an accused escape here recently. The police arrested a gang that was involved in flesh trade at Veerappanchatiram area recently. A woman agent was involved in the racket, who later escaped. It was found that two Special Sub-Inspectors and one constable had helped her to escape. Audio messages in which police personnel were interacting with her was in circulation in social media.
Following an inquiry by Superintendent of Police S. Sakthi Ganesan, the voices were identified as that of Varadaraj (56), SSI, Surampatti, Govindaraj (57), SSI, Erode Town and Vadivel (52), a constable, Veerappanchatiram.
