The Bhavanipuram police on Sunday arrested three persons including a police constable for allegedly cheating several unemployed youth offering jobs at the Secretariat.
The trio allegedly collected lakhs of rupees from over 30 victims. The fraud came to light after one of the victims Chinni Krishna from Bheemili of Visakhapatnam district lodged complaint recently.
The police said Moturi Sanjay Pradeep, the constable, and his neighbours Paragati Sunil and Paragati Anil, sons of P. Rajamani who works in the city police commissionerate, teamed up to earn easy money. They promised jobs in the irrigation, the revenue and other departments by showing off their ‘connections’ with higher officials and politicians, the police said. Mr. Krishna gave them Rs. 3 lakh and later introduced them to his friends.
The trio conducted fake interviews in star hotels to dupe their victims and issued fake offer letters. After realising that they were cheated, Mr. Krishna and his friends approached the police. The trio were produced before a court which sent them to judicial remand.
