Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam laid the foundation stone for a new building to be constructed in The Theni Collectroate on an outlay of Rs. 6.20 crore.
Presiding over the ceremony here on Wednesday, Collector M Pallavi Baldev said the multi-storey building with a carpet area of about 28,900 square feet (first floor: 15,600 sq ft, second floor: 13,300 sq ft) would house the offices of District Rural Development Agency, Assistant Director (Panchayat), AD (Audit), Mahalir Thittam and others.
New projects planned for the district would have its offices in the new building. The DRDA and other offices required more space and hence a proposal to construct an additional building was made.
The new building would come up behind the office of the District Employment Exchange office, the Collector said.
Assistant Collector-Training C. Dinesh Kumar, DRDA Project Director Thilagavathi and others participated.
