A bust of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi that was reportedly kept for paying homage in Gudiyatham town was removed on Wednesday evening.
According to the police, a person had brought the statue and kept it on the Polytechnic Koot Road in Gudiyatham.
“It was not fixed at the spot but was kept for paying respects following his death. We told the person to remove the statue and he took it away at 7.30 p.m. Permission from the district administration should be obtained beforehand for the installation of statues in public places,” an officer said.
