Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres have vowed to counter what they called the misinformation campaign launched by the various political parties in the State against the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chittoor district unit is buoyed by the various appointments made to the State panel by its new president Kanna Lakshminarayana.
TTD former trust board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy and Srikalahastheeswara temple former Chairman Kola Anand have been taken in as State secretaries, former district secretary Samanchi Srinivas has been made the official spokesperson and OBC Morcha State president Jally Madhusudhan gets a berth as zonal in-charge.
Predicting a pivotal role for the BJP in the general elections, the leaders made it clear that their appointment had strengthened their hands and given enough power to counter the false propaganda made continuously against their party.
At a meeting of party leaders here on Thursday, Mr. Bhanuprakash Reddy blamed the parties in the State of conveniently forgetting the assistance offered by the Centre, while resorting to mudslinging in the garb of ‘lack of support.’
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu calling the BJP his main opponent is a pointer to our strength,” he said, while cautioning the cadre about the likelihood of the government resorting to strong-arm tactics such as filing of police cases and unwarranted arrest attempts to cow them down.
Taking serious exception to the way the government was projecting the BJP as a villain, Mr. Srinivas called upon the party activists to spread awareness on the Centre’s contribution to the State’s development.
“All the political parties have ganged up against us. Time has come to set the record straight,” he said.
