Collector R.V. Karnan has exhorted all stakeholders involved in improving the nutritional status of women and children to work in synergy to implement the nutrition interventions as envisaged by the POSHAN Abhiyaan to achieve the National Nutrition Mission objectives.
Speaking at a district-level convergence meeting here on Tuesday, Mr Karnan said allied government departments should implement the POSHAN Abhiyaan by involving the members of women self-help groups, elected representatives of the local bodies and others as per schedule this month. All the field-level functionaries, including anganwadi and health workers, should play a role to spread greater awareness among adolescent girls, pregnant women and all sections of society, he suggested.
Zilla Parishad CEO M. Nagesh, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Indumathi, District Welfare Officer Varalakshmi and District Child Protection Officer Vishnuvandhana were present. Earlier, the Collector and the officials concerned attended a video conference addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi on the National Nutrition Month. ASHA, ANM and Anganwadi workers from various parts of the district also attended the video-conference.
