The State on Monday told the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court that repair work on the Tirunelveli-Shencottah stretch had been completed.
Additional Advocate General K. Chellapandian said Rs. 3.06 crore was spent on road repair, including the Tenkasi stretch. The road along the stretch would now be converted into a four-lane highway under the Tamil Nadu Road Improvement Scheme. A division bench of Justices M. M. Sundresh and N. Sathish Kumar took cognisance of the submission made by the State. The court had earlier sought a status report after a public interest litigation petition was filed seeking a direction to expedite the repair work along the stretch.
