Projects funded by MP to be completed by December

Projects being undertaken under the Local Area Development Fund of Innocent, MP, will be completed by December.

A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting chaired by Mr. Innocent here on Monday. The meeting urged implementing officers to take necessary measures. Mr. Innocent directed block panchayat secretaries to hold review meetings to be attended by people’s representatives within a fortnight. Drinking water projects and high-mast lights are being implemented on a war footing. Around 50 high-mast lights will be installed in Ernakulam and Thrissur by December.

Six drinking water projects worth Rs. 2.25 crore would be completed by December. An out patient block alongside the primary health centre in Thuravur and a mother and child ward will also be set up at the Perinjanam community health centre in Mathilakam panchayat in Thrissur district this year.

Smart classrooms

Around 19 smart classrooms in Ernakulam district and 32 in Thrissur district have also been proposed using the MP funds. Around 276 projects to the tune of Rs. 26.54 crore have been allocated so far within Mr. Innocent’s constituency.

Mammogram units for detecting breast cancer had been allocated to Aluva district hospital, and Chalakkudy, Angamaly and Perumbavur taluk hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakh per unit. Dialysis units worth Rs. 70 lakh and Rs. 43 lakh respectively had been allocated to Chalakkudy and Kodungalloor taluk hospitals. Besides, ultra sound scanning units have been provided to some hospitals.
