The generation of power resumed in unit II in the first plant of the Mettur Thermal Power Station (MTPS) on Thursday.
The first plant of the MTPS had four units with a power generation capacity of 840 MW (4 x 210MW). Due to coal shortage, power generation was suspended in unit II and unit III last week. The second plant with 600 MW power generation capacity was also shutdown on Wednesday due to the same reason.
Meanwhile, power generation resumed in unit II on Thursday following the arrival of coal stock, according to MTPS sources. With the resumption of power generation, about 630 MW is being produced at MTPS, against the total capacity of 1,440 MW.
