The KR Puram police have arrested two people, including a 35-year-old woman, who rented out houses to 19 African nationals who had been arrested by the Whitefield police last week for staying in the city after their visas expired. The accused Amir Chote, 38, a resident of TC Palya and Neelamma, 35, who lives in Seegehalli, have been booked under various sections of the Passport Act and Foreigners Act and remanded to judicial custody.

Abdul Ahad, DCP (Whitefield ) said that it is mandatory for the landlords to get copies of the passport and residential permits of foreigners before renting out their houses to them. “However the accused had not followed the mandatory procedure which amounts to abetting, he said.
