MSEDCL staffers ‘attacked while taking action against illegal electricity connection’

According to police, the accused obstructed the complainant and his colleague from taking action against an illegal electricity connection, attacked them and snatched Shrikhande’s cell phone worth Rs 10,000.

A man has been booked for allegedly assaulting personnel of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) when they were taking action against an illegal electricity connection at a private establishment on Kesnand Road in Wagholi.

The incident took place at 11 am on August 21, police said. The MSEDCL staffer, Ganesh Shrikhande, lodged the offence in this case at Lonikand police station.

According to police, the accused obstructed Shrikhande and his colleague, Anjan Shingne, from taking action against an illegal electricity connection, attacked them and snatched Shrikhande’s cell phone worth Rs 10,000.

Based on Shrikhande’s complaint, the accused has been booked under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 392 (robbery), 352 (assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
