Kiki challenge: Man moves along Mumbai local, Central Railway orders probe

The Central Railway’s (CR) Railway Protection Force (RPF) is verifying a video in which a youth performed a Kiki challenge stunt while the train was in motion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

The Kiki challenge, which has gone viral worldwide, involves getting out of a vehicle and dancing while the vehicle is in motion.

The video in question was uploaded on YouTube on July 30, titled ‘Kiki challenge on Mumbai local trains’. The video starts with a youth dancing in a local train compartment and getting down from the vehicle as it starts moving. The CSMT station board is visible in the background. In a second instance, the youth is seen dancing on the platform and boards a moving local train before alighting again.

RPF now plans to take action against the person featured in the video. Railway authorities fear that those watching the video, particularly teenagers, will try to imitate and perform similar life-threatening stunts. According to the Railways Act, this action will attract imprisonment for a day or two, if the offender is an adult. If he is a minor, he will be given counselling.

“The person in the video will be identified and action will be taken against him. These types of stunts will provoke others to imitate it. We request commuters not to undertake any type of stunts in the local trains as it can be life-threatening,” said Sachin Bhalode, senior divisional security commissioner, CR.

The Mumbai Police had also recently issued an advisory on its official Twitter handle, sharing a picture of a digital board saying, KIKI is bored of her own challenge. Stop it! #GetInTOTHECAR’. The tweet read, “We love your safety and can’t leave it to be decided by Kiki, #GetInToTheCar #KikiChallenge #InMySafetyFeelings”

Kiki is an internet challenge that became viral after comedian Shiggy posted a video of him dancing to the song, ‘In My Feelings’ by Canadian rapper Drake. It later got a new twist which sees passengers getting out of cars while they are still moving and dancing to the song.
