On the popular perception that IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao is the Chief Minister-in-waiting, he said there were more capable persons to lead the government and he was lucky to be in the limelight being the son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
He would not be disillusioned if he does not get a chance to become the Chief Minister, but would accept it if he gets an opportunity, he said when a reporter asked him about his take on early elections as the Chief Minister-in-waiting. Taking a dig at his critics, he said he had worked hard to become a Minister, despite being at an advantageous position.
“I have been to jail in Warangal and was arrested several times during the Telangana agitation. “No one nominated me and I never aspired to be a politician. Sircilla people have elected me thrice recognising my contribution to the movement,” he said.
Bigger role
He was of the firm view that neither BJP nor Congress can win at the Centre on their own and they would need allies to form the next government. Since the TRS wants to maintain equal distance from Congress and BJP, he said it could play a bigger role in the next government.
