HC restraint on publishing ICAR entrance results

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday restrained the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, from publishing the results of All India Entrance Examination in Agriculture for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses and award of Junior Research Fellowships and Senior Research Fellowships (AIEEA UG/PC and AICE JRF/SRF) for 2018-19 academic year, held on August 18 and 19.

The court passed the order on a writ petition filed by Amal C.T. and another applicant. Accordiing to them, the examination conducted earlier on online mode on June 22 and 23 had been cancelled on a directive of the Madras High Court owing to some technical snags on the computer system in Tamil Nadu. In fact, the applicants from Kerala were unable to make it to the examination centres owing to the flood situation in the State and most of them were lodged at various relief camps. The petitioners had made requests for postponing the examination.

But the ICAR went ahead with their examination and conducted it at the centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode on August 18 and 19.

The petitioners sought a directive to re-conduct the examinations for the applicants from Kerala.
