Five held for robbery

Five men were arrested on Friday, a day after an Amity University student was allegedly robbed of valuables worth nearly Rs. 4 lakh by four unidentified men near Mahamaya Balika Inter College, the police said.

BBA student Harshit Soni filed a complaint at Sector 39 police station alleging the incident happened around 10 p.m. on Thursday. He told the police that he was on his way home with a friend on his scooter when they were waylaid by four men on two bikes.

He told the police that the accused took his seven gold rings, one gold chain, three mobile phones and an ATM card at gunpoint. The police have recovered the rings, the phones, the chain, a countrymade pistol and live cartridges.

The police suspect the involvement of his friend in the robbery. “The accused only targeted Harshit,” said Sector 39 police station SHO Amit Kumar Singh.
