‘Everybody Knows’ to open IFFK

The 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will open next Friday with an Iranian flavour.

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s
Everybody Knows
will be the opening film of the week-long festival.

This will be the first screening of the film in India. It was the opening film of the Cannes Film Festival this year.


The film, starring Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, tells the story of a Spanish woman, Laura, living in Buenos Aires, who returns with her children to her home town outside Madrid for a wedding in the family.

Laura’s daughter Irene goes missing during the wedding, leading to a hunt that would open old wounds and secrets.

Asghar Farhadi is one of the favourites of the IFFK crowd, with his previous films like

Academy Awards
