Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday assured citizens of the national capital, saying that the recent rise in cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is due to increased testing.
Kejriwal said, “I want to assure you that Covid-19 situation in Delhi is completely under control but there is no room for complacency,” Kejriwal said.
Delhi reported more than 2,000 new coronavirus disease cases four days in a row. Delhi on Friday recorded 2,914 fresh cases — the highest single-day spike in 69 days.
Kejriwal also highlighted that the case fatality rate is lower than the national average and recovery rate is 10% higher than the national average. He said, “As per data between August 15 and today, the fatality rate among Covid-19 patients is 1% in Delhi against 1.7% of the national fatality rate. Our recovery rate is 87% against 77% on the national level. Covid-19 cases are rising in Delhi because we’ve increased testing.”
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader reiterated that there is no scope for complacency and asked the citizens of the Capital to follow Covid-19 preventive measures.
