Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao called on JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda at the latter’s residence on Saturday. The two leaders reportedly discussed tie-up between the two parties for the urban local body elections and pre-poll pact for the Lok Sabhha elections.
The Congress and the JD(S) have signed an agreement to contest the next year’s general elections as an alliance. However, constituency-level workers have been opposing this.
Earlier, Mr. Rao said the Congress on Friday discussed issues in seven parliamentary constituencies. However, no candidates were finalised. The Congress would finalise the alliance with the JD(S) after talks between central leaders of the party and Mr. Gowda, he said.
