Differently abled students take part in voter awareness campaign

To create awareness on achieving 100% voting in the Lok Sabha elections, children from two differently-abled schools in the district participated in a campaign here on Monday.

Organised by the District Differently Abled Welfare Department, District Collector C. Kathiravan presided over the campaign at V.O.C. Park Sports Ground in the presence of Corporation Commissioner S. Seeni Ajmal Khan, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer C. Kumar, Tahsildar (Elections) Ravichandran, and others. As many as 60 students from the Government High School for the Deaf, R.N. Pudur, and 18 students from Apex School for Deaf and Dumb, Slaterpuram in Perundurai, created formations that stressed on 100% voting in the elections.

Organisers said that huge money was spent on conducting elections and the participation of the electors was only around 65% to 80% only. The campaign was aimed at creating awareness among the electors to cast their votes without fail.
