Development of Muvattupuzha town to get under way soon

Eldho Abraham, MLA, has said that roads in Muvattupuzha town will be elevated to global standards. He also said that the project for the development of Muvattupuzha town would get under way by the end of the month.

He was speaking after inaugurating a construction work in connection with the modernisation of the Muvattupuzha Everest Junction-Kavumkara Market Bus Stand road in his constituency.

An amount of Rs. 15 crore has been allocated under the Sabarimala package for the renovation of the stretch between Muvattupuzha and Vallom on MC Road. Tender formalities of the work have been initiated and the road is likely to be renovated before this year’s pilgrimage season.

An assistance of Rs. 2.83 crore has been allocated for the renovation of roads damaged in the flood. The work will get under way shortly on completion of tender formalities.

Despite the rain, repair works would be completed without delay, he said.

The road starting from Everest Junction on Kothamangalam-Muvattupuzha road upto Kavumkara Market Stand, Chanthakkadavu Road and Central Juma Masjid Road were being built using bituminous macadam and bituminous concrete (BMBC) method. Drains in the waterlogged parts of the road, one of the oldest in the town, will also be renovated.

The renovation of the stretch had been delayed owing to various reasons. Only, potholes were filled at the demand of people. The road is also being used as parallel to the Muvattupuzha-Kothamangalam road used mainly by heavy vehicles, including buses. Buses heading towards Muvattupuzha from Thodupuzha and Piravom regions also use the stretch. Renovation of the road would speed up the development projects in the area, Mr. Abraham said.

Municipal chairperson Usha Sasidharan presided.
