Minister for Revenue and Disaster management R. B. Udayakumar, who had launched bi-cycle rally campaign to meet the people and explain the achievements of the government, completed his three-day campaign in the district on Monday after meeting seven lakh people.
After launching the rally in Devakottai on August 4, Mr. Udayakumar, accompanied by Minister for Khadi and Village Industries Board G. Baskaran and local MP P. R. Senthilnathan visited several places in the four Assembly segments in the district and distributed welfare assistance, an official release here said.
Addressing the rally here, the Minister said after the demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the government had been implementing her dream projects and welfare schemes with full vigour.
Though some mischievous elements posed trouble, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has been tackling them successfully and remained focussed on the welfare of the people, he said. The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam have been fulfilling the aspirations of the people with the active support of the people of the State and the party workers, he said.
The Chief Minister has achieved a major milestone by ‘quietly’ implementing 50,000 schemes at the total cost of Rs. 23,000 crore in the last 17 months, he said adding he was also implementing another 50,000 schemes involving total outlay of Rs. 48,000 crore in all the 32 revenue districts in the State.
Pointing that Mr. Palaniswami secured prestigious schemes such as the Rs. 10,000 crore eight-lane Chennai-Salem green corridor, the Rs. 1,500 crore AIMS hospital, coming up in Madurai and Cauvery water, Mr Udayakumar said Tamil Nadu has emerged as the second top State in the country in overall development.
