Amidst confusion over the payment of salaries to thousands of government employees both demoted and promoted, Chief Secretary T.M. Vijay Bhaskar on Monday directed all department heads to disburse salaries to them according to their current designations.
During a meeting with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy recently, several employees and organisations complained that they had not received salary for three to four months after the demotion-promotion process commenced.
Following the Supreme Court order on revising seniority list after it struck down the consequential seniority followed earlier by the State government, departmental promotion committees undertook an exercise to identify officials belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to be demoted, and promotion of general category officials. The circular issued on Monday said that the Supreme Court had neither orally nor in writing said that salaries to the employees should be stopped. The Advocate General said salaries should be disbursed to officials based on the current post they hold, the circular said.
