The Andhra Pradesh police planted 10 lakh saplings during the ‘Vanam Manam’ programme under the ‘Mission Haritha Andhra Pradesh’ as per the directive of R.P. Thakur, DGP, that personnel right from the home guards to the top level officers should participate in the mission.
Mr. Thakur, who launched the drive at the APSP 6th Battalion camp, along with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Ilyas Rizvi on July 18, set targets for all the unit officers. The personnel procured saplings and planted them in police stations, colonies, battalion camps and government land.
The Vanam Manam website designed by the Forest Department served as the platform for uploading information on plantations done everyday. The Vanam Manam App launched by the government was used for geo-tagging parallelly to map the plantation at the State-level and was uploaded in the virtual dashboard, the DGP said.
