Congress criticises Centre over incidents of mob lynching

On the 76th anniversary of Quit India Movement, the State Congress criticised the Union government over the growing incidents of mob lynching and attack on the freedom of media.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao and working president Eshwar Khandre attacked the Modi government’s policies and alleged that the Centre had “betrayed” the farming community and the youth owing to its failure to provide remunerative prices and jobs. The Modi government allowed crony capitalists to loot nationalised banks and take shelter in foreign countries, they alleged.

Both leaders dismissed media reports about poaching of Congress legislators by the Bharatiya Janata Party and added that several BJP leaders have been approaching them.

The BJP leaders have been making all out efforts to topple the alliance government but they will not succeed since leaders of alliance partners are united, Mr. Rao said.
