Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palaniswami inaugurated a new staff quarters for police personnel inside the Armed Reserve complex here on Friday through video conferencing from Chennai.
According to a statement issued by the district administration, the announcement for the construction of the quarters was made in 2014 as part of the police modernisation scheme.
Subsequently, Rs. 16.34 crore was sanctioned for the construction of 121 houses for police constables and head constables.
While the total built-up area of the staff quarters is 78,857 square feet, each house is of 650 square feet in size with two bedrooms. The apartment will have modern amenities, the statement said.
Collector S. Natarajan, Commissioner of Police S. Davidson Devasirvatham and other senior officials were present at the function here.
