The CB-CID wing of the police on Monday filed a chargesheet against 18 people for their involvement in the ATM fraud case.
According to public prosecutor Praveen Kumar, the chargesheet, running into 75 pages, was filed in the chief judicial magistrate court.
Mr. Kumar said the CB-CID had added additional sections of 120 (b), 489 A, 489 B, 489 D, 406 and 409 of Indian Penal Code and Section 66 D of the Information Technology Act against the 18 persons, including the main accused Chandruji.
The Crime and Intelligence Wing of the Puducherry police busted the ATM fraud and arrested three persons, including an engineering graduate in electronics and communication, for their involvement in siphoning off money by using fake ATM cards on April 18.
The police widened the dragnet following information about the involvement of several political functionaries from the AIADMK, the AINRC and other parties in the ATM fraud. The case was subsequently handed over to the CB-CID.
