At a Standing Committee meeting of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Thursday, the Opposition councillors attacked the BJP over segregation of students at a primary school in Wazirabad.
While a BJP leader called for an inquiry to understand the context in which the segregation took place, AAP’s Vikas Goyel said, “You are trying to give the RSS a clean chit.” He also demanded an investigation into the role of higher authorities in the matter. The Education Director informed the committee that an acute shortage of school inspectors had a role to play in not having identified the issue earlier. Standing Committee chief Veena Virmani said upholding secularism was very important for the corporation.
