ATM robbery: ‘masked men went towards Sangareddy’

The three masked robbers who allegedly cut open two Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of ICICI Bank at Taranagar of Chandanagar reportedly went towards Sangareddy.

Miyapur ACP S Ravi Kumar said the culprits, who went in a camper car with Rs. 10 lakh in the early hours of Friday, drove their vehicle towards Sangareddy, police said. Between 3.45 a.m and 4.15 a.m. on Friday, the masked men had entered an unmanned ATM and cut open the machines.

The incident came to light at 4 p.m on Friday when a sweeper went inside the centre for cleaning, and found the vaults open. “We are analysing the video footage of surveillance cameras in the area to nab the accused,” Miyapur ACP said.

Woman cheated

A 33-year-old scriptwriter for Telugu films and television serials alleged that a teacher cheated her of Rs. 10 lakh after promising to introduce her to Tollywood filmmakers, SR Nagar police said.

Sub-inspector B. Sainath said that the woman, who hails from Nellore in AP, approached police on Thursday and lodged a complaint against B. Narayanaraju Goud, aged about 40, stating he has been absconding for the past one year. SR Nagar police have registered a case.

Habitual offender held

Police arrested a 52-year-old man and recovered 19 grams of gold, 15 grams of silver articles, a bike and a mobile phone. The accused, Emani Ram Babu, a businessman from Meerpet, is a habitual offender, earlier remanded in several temple theft cases. Hyderabad Police Commissioner invoked PD Act against him in March 2015 and he was released in October 2016, said police.
