Action plan to address workers’ grievances crucial: D.K. Suresh

Acknowledging that Congress workers at the grass roots were facing problems, especially in Old Mysore region, Bengaluru Rural MP D.K. Suresh said the party needs to have a district-wise action plan to address their concerns and take them into confidence.

“We are receiving hundreds of complaints. Somebody should take care of the workers’ interests. Only then will the party retain its base. This has not been done, especially by those in power,” Mr. Suresh told

. “It should happen in the interest of party and government.”

For example, he pointed out that of the eight Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituencies, Congress has won four and JD(S) and BJP three and one, respectively. “I receive hundreds of complaints from party workers from four constituencies not held by the Congress, that they are being ignored,” he said.

He said that addressing these issues should be a priority when Lok Sabha elections are drawing closer. “The party has to coordinate with the government and we have to show that we are with the party workers. I have been raising this issue with the party high command at every opportunity,” said Mr. Suresh.
