11 kg ganja seized, two arrested

The Rajanna-Sircilla district police have arrested two smugglers and seized 11 kg of dry ganja and an autorickshaw from their possession.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde BK on Friday said acting upon credible information about the contraband being smuggled from Hyderabad to Karimnagar via Sircilla textile town, the CCS, Task force and local police conducted vehicle checking on the Sircilla textile bypass road. They nabbed two persons along with 11 kg of dry ganja in an autorickshaw.

The accused were identified as Shaik Asif (28) and Arapalli Manohar (20) from Peddapalli district. Both of them have been smuggling ganja for several years now. After procuring it from Hyderabad and Vijayawada, they sell it in Karimnagar, Vemulawada and Peddapalli at higher rates. The duo went to Hyderabad on Thursday and had purchased 11 kg of ganja worth Rs. 1.2 lakh.

The SP called upon the people to inform the police if they found anyone involved in illegal activities.
