Whoopi Goldberg wants a break from politics for Christmas

Whoopi Goldberg has a simple wish for the holidays.

“I want everybody to take a break from politics and enjoy their families regardless of what your politics are,” Goldberg, 63, told Page Six during Thursday night’s VIP opening of the new FAO Schwarz. “Just put it all away for three weeks and let’s just make life good.”

“The View” co-host old us that heading to FAO Schwarz has been a Christmas tradition since she was a little girl.

“When I was little we would come to Macy’s first to see the windows, then we’d go to the Rockettes and see the Christmas show and then my mother would walk us through FAO Schwarz and she’d say, ‘We don’t have any money but they don’t mind if you come in and look,’” she recalled. “So when I got a little dough and my kid was small, I’d bring her in and we’d go crazy, so I think I’m about to have the same experience with the great-granddaughter.”

After the toy mecca’s flagship location closed its doors in 2015 after 55 years, it’s now reopened at 30 Rockefeller Center.

“This is the beginning of the holiday season,” she said of the store. “It was gone a little while and now it’s back so everyone can breathe a little better.”

Talking other holiday favorites, Goldberg told us that when it comes to her preferred holiday films, it’s a toss-up between “Elf” and “A Christmas Story.”

“Those are the two,” she said. “There’s nothing better for me, that’s how I know it’s Christmas.”
