Vanessa Hudgens is now the second celebrity to wear Marchesa — the brand designed by Harvey Weinstein‘s ex-wife, Georgina Chapman — since the allegations of sexual misconduct against the mega-producer made headlines in October 2017.
On Sunday, the actress attended the Los Angeles premiere of her film “Dog Days” wearing a strapless blush gown with 3D floral appliqués from the brand’s spring 2018 collection.
Scarlett Johansson was the first celebrity to wear Marchesa on the red carpet after the Weinstein revelations, attending the 2018 Met Gala in a burgundy ombré gown.
“I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers,” Johansson told Page Six in a statement at the time.
The timing of Hudgens’ decision to wear this dress is particularly interesting considering that in her September cover story for Cosmopolitan, released last week, the actress expressed her unequivocal support for the #MeToo movement.
“I have been very fortunate not to have had any direct run-ins,” the actress told the magazine. “But I’ve seen it happen. I’m grateful that we’re living in an age when women are finally heard.”
Requests for comment from Hudgens’ rep were not immediately returned.
