Ulrika Jonsson has revealed she felt "rejected" and heartbroken after having sex with her husband just once in eight years.
Last month, the telly star, 51, announced she is divorcing her third husband Brian Monet after a decade of marriage.
She's now opened up about what went wrong, and explained their sex life fizzled out completely.
Former Gladiators presenter Ulrika says she went without intimacy for almost a decade and it left her feeling broken.
In a piece written for The Sun , she explained: "Just before my 50th birthday, I remember thinking I might have to just accept that I would never have sex ever again.
"The reason I thought this is because I had not had sex for four and half years.
"And the time before that was four years prior. I was living in a sexless marriage for nearly a decade…
"It felt… as if part of my life was over…
"It made me, as a woman who has always enjoyed affection in relationships, feel rejected and confused, especially as there had been a really great sexual attraction between us when we met."
Ulrika revealed she had no idea why the couple's sex life vanished – they had the "normal distractions of life" like children and work, but insisted her "desire hadn’t waned".
She insists she just wanted to feel loved, and it got worse went she went through menopause.
Ulrika added: "Only having one sexual encounter in eight and half years, coupled with me starting to go through the menopause six years ago, couldn’t have made me feel worse about myself.
"I put on a bit of weight, lost my memory, struggled with confidence and knowing who I was."
She accused her husband of failing to understand her unhappiness or showing any empathy towards her.
Ulrika explained that the issues that eventually drove them to divorce revolved around more than just sex, and even marriage counselling couldn't save the relationship.
She felt utterly distraught when the marriage ended last year, but the telly star is now optimistic about the future.
Ulrika says that her four children and even her dogs are now "considerably happier" and the former couple are continuing to co-parent.
She ended by insisting that although she's single, she's not ready to start dating again but she is looking forward to enjoying her new life.
Ulrika and Brian have a son together, Malcolm, and she has three other children from previous relationships.
It was her third marriage.
