The Wanted fans have rallied together to get their number one single All Time Low back at the top of the charts after 10 years.

Band member Tom Parker, 32, revealed in a heartbreaking interview with OK! magazine on Monday that he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Following the devastating news, fans of the chart-topping band have reunited to download their debut single in a bid to get the band, who went on an indefinite hiatus in 2014, back in the charts.

A social media user took to Twitter to form the idea, writing: "How about something to make us, Tom, Kelsey and the rest of the boys smile?

Another fan commented: "think this is a fab idea, their first big hit, it will be amazing for him, let's show them we are still here. Its what bought us all together at the beginning, after all #DownloadATL [sic]"

The campaign has been a success so far, with the poignant song reaching number 20 on the UK iTunes chart at the time of publication.

Speaking about the support he has received from his former bandmates after telling them news of his diagnosis, Tom told us: "Obviously all the boys were as shocked as we were. They are gutted by the news, but they’ve been incredibly supportive.

"Jay [McGuinness] has been round to see us a few times since we got the news and is reading up on everything he can and Max [George] was here last week.

"Siva [Kaneswaran] and Nathan [Sykes] obviously live a lot further away, but all four of the boys have been texting regularly and sending through different articles and possible treatments and therapies that they’re all reading about.

"They’ve been so positive, but when I spoke to Max he was in bits. We were in bits together."
